I’ve looked through your galleries and I like your style---now what do I do?

  • Please call or email me as soon as you decide to book your session. I only take on a few sessions a month and it is possible I may be booked for a month in advance. The session fee is required in full to reserve your date.

When is a good age to photograph my baby?

  • Now! No, really. I think any age is special and worth photographing. No need to wait until a birthday or milestone. But if you want to be picky I can give you a few pointers. If you are thinking of documenting the first year with professional photos I recommend a newborn session in the first 2 weeks. The earlier the better because babies start to lose that “foldable” quality after that time. Another session around the time the baby is able to sit up but not quite crawling, then perhaps another session when he is able to stand on his own or possibly taking those first precious steps.

How long do sessions last?

  • Typically sessions are around 2 hours depending on the child’s temperament and cooperation. Newborn sessions can take much longer to allow time for feedings and diaper changes. I aim to capture natural emotion and I don’t like a stiff, posed look. I prefer to think of the session as a play date.  I want your child to have plenty of time to relax and have fun.

I’m pregnant now and I know you recommend doing a newborn session is the first 2 weeks after the baby is born. When do I book my session?

  • Let me know when your due date is and I will put you on the schedule. Then put me on your call list when the baby is born and we will figure out the best day. I am very flexible when it comes to newborns since there is such a small window to capture that time in your child’s life.

What am I going to wear?

  • Well, that is a very important question and one that almost everyone asks. I  usually say two things--“Keep it simple” and “Wear something you LOVE.” Of course, newborns look best is a simple diaper cover or nothing at all! For older kids, stay away from stripes or bold logos and graphics.  If you are going for a classic look a good place to start is a simple sundress for a girl and khakis (or jeans) and a plain polo for a boy. Of course, if you are going for a trendy look then bold colors and patterns can be fun too. Layers and textures photograph well. But, really, it is up to you.

When can I see my photos?

  • In about 2 weeks you will have 15-20 proofs to look at in a password protected online gallery. The gallery will remain visible for 2 weeks to allow you look at your photos and decide on your favorites. During that period I will be available to meet with you to discuss your order. Orders do not need to be placed at the time of the follow-up session but I strongly recommend it.

I’m so excited! When can I expect to receive my order?

  • You will have your photos 2 weeks after the ordering session

Do you archive the photos from my session after the initial order?

  • Yes. I will keep all ordered photos from your session on file. I take measures to back up my data but please be aware that I do not guarantee I will have you photos on file for future orders. The best way to preserve digital photos is to print them and store them in archival quality materials or frame the prints with a mat behind glass.
